Español 1
Overview
Learning a new language should be exciting and enjoyable. It involves years of practice and active participation in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and studying the cultures and communities of those who speak it natively. In Español I, students will be introduced to basic vocabulary and structures of the Spanish language, learn strategies for and practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and explore customs and traditions of the Hispanic world. While it is unrealistic to expect students to become fluent by the end of this course, they can be successful and proficient in Spanish if they are willing to dedicate TIME and EFFORT to reaching this goal. By the end of Español I, students will have established a foundation for language acquisition and be able to read, write, understand, and speak at a beginning Spanish level when dealing with familiar topics.
